What's in my Makeup Bag?

Hey ladies!!!  It's good to be back on the blog.  It's been a busy BUSY couple months since my last post.

Tonight, I thought I'd share what was in my makeup bag that I usually pack with me on a daily basis (mainly to work).

My cute bag is by Sonia Kashuk.
Got it when it was on clearance so you can get the same one in a different color here.
I always have my Bobbi Brown bronzer with me and whatever blush I'm wearing for the day.
Today just happened to be benefit's Rockateur.
(I like to switch up my blush and try to do so every other day)
elf's Sunkissed bronzer is always a good to go over the Bobbi Brown bronzer
I always carry my NYX Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer and a mini brush to apply it with.
Mac's Vex eye shadow is always a good inner tear duct color for me when I want to look more alive.
Make Up Forever's Aqua Brow in shade 25 is a must for fixing up this girl's brows.
Last but not least, my L'Oreal 12 HR infallible liquid liner to fix up any liner smudges.

Then the brushes I carry with me (just in case a little blending is missed and needed)
flatter brush for contouring and blush
fluffy brush to blend out the bronzer and blush
flat shader brush, dense blending brush, fluffy blending brush, small smudge brush, eye liner brush, angled eye liner brush, Anastasia Beverly Hills angled liner and spooly brush, flatter blending brush (the purple handle brush.  I use this to contour my nose on the days I don't wear my glasses)

It may seem like I carry a lot of items in my makeup bag but TRUST me, it comes in handy when you have an unexpected night out or just have a makeup malfunction that needs to be fixed ASAP.  And once in a blue moon, I do carry the eye shadow palette I used in the morning.  This is only when I know I'm going out right after work, I can touch up my eye shadows.

That's it for my quick post.
Hope everyone has a good night.

Belletto Studios HD Airbrush System

Hey ladies!  It's been a while since I've posted anything.  Just wanted to share my before and after using the Belletto Studios HD Airbrush System for the first time.

Bare face with skin care products and Hourglass Veil Mineral Foundation Primer

With Mac NC20 Concealer.
(heard it was better to put on concealer first before actually using the airbrush foundation)

After doing the rest of my makeup, hair and getting dressed.  LOL

these two pics were taken at the end of the night

Included with the kit was (the kit online now has different products that are included):
Airbrush machine
1 perfecting foundation primer
4 foundation shades (I chose the medium with yellow undertones that had F3 Latte, F4 Sweet Honey, F5 Sarhara Sand, and F6 Dune)
1 eye shadow (shade Utaupia)
1 blush (shade Coralleia)
1 lustere drops
1 cleansing solution

I must say, I was a little intimidated with the system because it looked easy to do when I watched YouTube videos but when I first used it, it was a little tricky trying to get the hang of it.  After applying foundation to one side of my face, I found it wasn't as hard as I thought.  LOL  Although, I did spill a little bit on my pants.  oops  But as long as you kept your hand rotating in a circle motion all over your face, you got even coverage.

I did find that with my larger pores on my nose, the coverage wasn't as great.  I even tried building it up slowly but it wasn't covering good.  Might need to try a different primer to fill in my pores.

I do need to practice a bit more and change up the foundation shade(s) since first time around, it looked a bit dark after setting.

I will continue using this on myself for those special occasions and more so on clients since the foundation shades run about $15 each.

I hope that this gives you a little insight on an airbrush machine and the wonders it does.

Current Favorites

I know I haven't written a post in a while but it's been pretty busy for me lately with the last 2 months.  Too many weekend events and busy work weeks that I can't find the time to sit down and blog.  When I do have time, all I wanna do is chill since it's the only time I get to relax.

But on to my current favorites.

Top from left to right:
Covergirl outlast stay brilliant in this lavender color (no name on bottle)
Makeup Forever Aqua Brow in shade 25 for the days I leave my hair down
Physicians Formula Gel Liner in brown for my eyebrows for a darker look on the days I put my hair up
Hydroxatone Anti-aging BB cream in shade Tan, almost out of this sample since I've been using it a lot
NYX Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer in shade CJ04 Beige to sharpen my eyebrows and for spot concealing throughout the day
essie nail polish in penny talk.

Bottom from left to right (what I have been currently mixing as a cheek combo):
Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Golden Light 1
bhcosmetics bombshell Bronze in Diva
elf bronzer in Sun Kissed

I forgot to picture Estee Lauder's Double Wear Foundation in shade Rattan.
Only have a sample of this shade too since I have a little tan and don't want to commit to buying it yet.
I will share a before and after pic of me wearing this shade in a future post.

Hope everyone has a great night!

Bridal Trial

Hey ladies!  I had the opportunity to do a bridal makeup and hair trial for this lovely lady yesterday.
Too bad I forgot to do a before picture so you're just stuck with the with and without her veil pictures.

Face:
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer to start off as a base
I mixed the shades Buttermilk, Desert Sand and Golden Sunset from the Graftobian Creme Foundation Warm Palette #2 to come up with the right foundation shade for her
shade Temptress from the Graftobian Creme Foundation Warm Palette #1 for highlight
shade Burnt Amber from the Graftobian Creme Foundation Warm Palette #3 for contour
Makeup Forever HD Powder to set her undereye concealer/highlight
Ben Nye Powder Rouge in Contour No. 2 to set the Burnt Amber shade and lock the contour
For the cheeks, I used Hourglass Ambient Lightning Blush in Diffused Heat first then went over it with Benefit's Rockateur blush
\I used Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone for highlight

Eyes:
I used Too Faced's Chocolate Bar for her eyes.  Milk Chocolate, the matte taupe shade, was the transition shade, Marzipan, the light shimmery taupe bronze shade was used for the inner 1/3 of her eye, Haute Chocolate, the shimmery medium brown shade, was used on the outer V, Triple Fudge, the darkest matte shade, was used to define the outer V more and give it a slight smokey look, and then Champagne Ruffle to highlight the inner corners.
A mix of Haute Chocolate and Triple Fudge for the lower lash line.
Urban Decay Perversion Gel Liner to give her a slight winged look
Maybeline's Falsies mascara for just the top lashes
(no faslies for the trial so we'll see if she wants it for her wedding day)

Lips:
Mac Brave lipstick
Nars lip gloss in Turkish Delight

I had a great time working with this lovely girl, even if it was just her trial run.  She definitely will be a beauty on her wedding day since she kept on saying she looked good and she didn't look like herself that no one would recognize her on her wedding day.  LOL she's so funny.  All I did was enhance her already beautiful features.  That's what bridal makeup should be about.

Have a great Monday everyone!

First Impressions: L'Oreal 12HR infallible Never Fail Liquid Liner

Hey ladies.  So this is my first First Impressions review on my blog.  I wanted to start off with L'Oreal's 12HR infallible liquid liner.  I am in need of a new liner so I thought I'd go towards a drug store brand...something affordable and had good reviews.

This is what it reads on the back of the package:

For flawlessly clean lines as precise as 0.4 mm, L'Oreal Paris introduces The Super Slim by Infallible eyeliner.  The ultra-fine felt tip gives you total control, delivering the perfect amount of liner.  The intense quick dry 12HR formula glides on smoothly with continuous and even flow.  In one stroke create sleek & sophisticated eye designs.

Before application:

Right after application:

The felt tip is kinda stiff when you first use it.  It goes on pretty smooth and is very black.  Only down fall during application is that it gets a little bumpy looking when you drag it across your lids so you'll have to go back to smooth out the line.  After applying the liner, you do have to let it dry a bit first so it doesn't catch on your lids.  (mostly speaking to my monolid girls)

After cleaning my contacts (sorry for the blurry pictures from my phone):

Another downfall is that when you are a contact wearer like me and need to clean your contacts or use drops, the liner smudges in certain areas.  For me, it was the inner corners.  Not a cute look!

Overall, it was a good liner and didn't smudge as much.  But I will say, I will not be purchasing this again and will keep to my either my Lorac Pro liner or a gel liner sine I feel like it glides on smoother than this L'Oreal one.

 Pictures before doing my hair

FYI: I tried this liner for the first time on Saturday, the 12th, and have been using it since then to just use it up and see if my opinions have changed on it.  Still smudges a bit on the lids for me but I did notice that when I did clean my contacts and/or used eye drops, I didn't get that smudge in my inner corners or anywhere else.  So over a little time, it has become a better product than the first use.

Hope this first impressions/review was a helpful read.

Have a great night!

Pangie

Sister Makeovers

My younger sister and her family was in town for basically the whole month of June so I got some time to do some makeup looks (didn't have too much time when we were running around or she was off visiting other family members) on her since she never wears any and is just learning the basics.

Before pics:

After pics:
1st look: quick and easy bronzey look for a chill day
Foundation: Urban Decay Urban Defense Tinted Moisturizer in shade Bodyguard
Concealer: Ulta brand (this was my sister's so I don't know the shade)
Bronzer: Benefit Hoola, elf Sunkissed, Pixi bronzer in Subtly Suntouched
Blush: Benefit Rockateur
Eyes: it'sjuytime eye shadow palette
(she has this palette too so wanted to show her some looks she can do using it)
Brows: the Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude palette in Matt Johnson (dark gray) and Matt Abdul (light gray)
Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel to hold everything in place
elf Makeup Mist to set all the makeup

2nd look: another look featuring the it'sjudytime palette

3rd look (for her family photos and our couples night out): I used a mix of the it'sjudytime palette, Anastasia Beverly Hills Catwalk palette and the Lorac Pro palette

Foundation for both 2nd and 3rd look: Graftobian warm foundation palette #1 in shade Temptress
3rd look: Graftobian warm foundation palette #3 in shade Burnt Amber for contour
Concealer: Boo-Boo Cover-up Concealer (no shade found on tube but part of an ipsy bag I recently got)
Mac Pro long Wear Concealer in NC20
Bronzer for both looks: Benefit Hoola, elf Sunkissed and Pixi Subtly Suntouched
Blush for 2nd look: Mac Peaches
Blush for 3rd look: Benefit Rockateur and NYX Mauve
Highlight for 3rd look: Becca Moonstone
Brows: the Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude palette in Matt Johnson (dark gray) and Matt Abdul (light gray)
Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel to set everything in place
Lipstick for 2nd look: NYX lip liner in Natural, her NYX matte nude lipstick (don't know the shade) and NYX butter gloss in Tiramisu
Lipstick for 3rd look: Flower lipstick in LS23 in Apricot Blossom, topped with NYX butter gloss in Tiramisu
elf Makeup Mist to set all the makeup

My sister is such a beautiful woman without makeup but I wanted to enhance her beauty even more by giving her a treat and make her over as much as I could during her stay.  I can't wait for her to come back to visit or vice versa so I can doll her plain ass up again. :)

And now on to a quick look I did for my sister-in-law for her and my bro's 1 year wedding anniversary pictures.  I don't have a before pic of her.

Foundation: Graftobian foundation warm palette #2 in shade Buttermilk
Graftobian foundation warm palette #3 in shade Sienna for contouring
Brows: the Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude palette in Matt Johnson (dark gray) and Matt Abdul (light gray)
Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel to set everything in place
Eyes: her Stila palette (not sure of the name) and an orange shade from one of my ipsy bags
Bronzer: Benefit Hoola
Blush: Mac Peaches + NYX Mauve
Lips: her YSL lipgloss/lipstick (don't know the shade either)
elf Makeup Mist to set all the makeup

That's it for now so I hope everyone has a good night!

Spring/Summer Cleaning

I've been wanting to clean out my closet, my makeup, and my accessories but I can never find the time to do it.  Luckily for me, it's time to move part of my closet upstairs since it has more space.  If you're like me, it's hard to let go of the good pieces that used to be a favorite in the past.  I hold on to these items thinking "one day I'll get skinny again to rock this again."  Who am I kidding?  Personally, when I say this, I am just thinking in the moment of throwing out things.  I know I don't have the time or motivation to "get skinnier" these days so I should just cut my loss and say goodbye to these past favorites of mine.

Here are my tips on figuring out what you want to throw out of your closet:
1. Can you see yourself wearing the item in the next 3-6 months?  Or into the next season?
2. How many other pieces currently in your closet can you see yourself wearing with this item?
3. How many times have you worn the item in the past 6 months?  Or the past season?
4. Have you outgrown the item?
5. Is this item something you are keeping because "one day you'll get skinny enough to wear it again"?

First 3 tips applies to shoes and accessories as well.  Once you figure that out, you can easily throw or donate the items you don't need.  For me, I have my sisters and close friends come over to pick out pieces they like out of my "donate" stash before I really donate to a charity or Goodwill.

For makeup:
1. When was the last time you wore the product?
2. How long has the product been in your collection?
3. How do you feel about the product now vs. when you first got the product?

I believe these are the key questions you should ask yourself before you throw away anything in your closet.  I know we all don't want to part with items in our closet but hey, it's life and whatever you toss out, you can replace with a newer, in trend piece that'll be even more perfect than the last.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Pangie

Summer Blues

I'm not one who likes to wear pants in the hot, humid summers here in the Midwest but for some reason, this year, I have been loving pants!  And I am on the hunt for more pants that are on the thinner side like these blue pants.

tank & necklace: Forever21
denim vest: Deb (I added the studs to give it a more edgy look)
blue pants: Marshall's
shoes: Charlotte Russe
earrings: Rue21

Simple look for today since it's my Friday :)

Hope this inspires you to try out different looks for summer!

New Chapter in My Life

I'm finally starting my journey as a freelance Makeup Artist.  I have been super busy doing some photoshoots this month (to add pictures into my portfolio), creating a logo and name, and trying to get a business card together.  All this while working a full time job, coming home to take care of my 3 kids, and trying to get some gigs to build up my status/skill.

I must say, I have never been more excited about anything in my life!  I'm starting a new chapter in my life that I see big things for.  I have a great husband who is behind me in this and my 3 kids who are not such babies anymore so I can have the time to do what I LOVE to do.

Here is my Facebook page HERmakeup if you guys want to check out my work so far and for future work.  I am planning on getting a website set up too but that won't be in the works for a couple months.  Facebook will do for now.

Here's a little preview of the shoots I just wrapped up with my cousin, Xocha, as the photographer.

This one was done on 4-19-14
Models are from L to R: sister-in-law, Suesee, Kelly's friend Kaelani, and my baby sister, Kelly
